Term and Conditions The following terms and conditions apply to all transactions of coins
or banknotes by the Obsolete Money Exchange. By using our service, you agree
to the terms and conditions set out below. Please read them carefully. Treatment of Goods Your goods are treated as
second hand items. The prices offered are based on their collector value of
your items. As such all items sold fall under the second-hand dealer
legislation and will be on sold for their retail collector value. Terms of use You must be 18 or over, or have parental consent, to use our service.
You must be the rightful owner of the coins and/or banknotes you want to
sell, or you must have permission from the rightful owner(s) to sell them. Authenticity We
do not accept counterfeit banknotes or coins, or for banknotes or coins for
which there is a reasonable doubt about their authenticity. We do not accept
specimen banknotes or banknotes that have been deprived of their value, e.g.
by punched holes, defacement, shredding, anti-theft dye or stamps. We do not
accept mutilated coins or banknotes. All banknotes submitted for exchange
must have all the required safety features (watermark, security thread,
optically variable ink, raised intaglio printing etc). When there is
reasonable doubt about the authenticity of a banknote or coin, we may refuse
to buy the disputed banknote/coin, which will be sent back at your request
and expense. All returned items will be sent by Australia Post signature on
delivery mail. Lawfulness We
do not purchase banknotes or coins that were obtained in a wrongful or
unlawful manner. If there are doubts about the origin of a consignment of
notes and/or coins, we may ask for additional information. When there is
doubt about the origin or lawfulness of a consignment of banknotes or coins,
we may refuse to exchange the disputed banknotes/coins. which will be sent
back on the client’s request and at the client’s expense. All returned items
will be sent by Australia Post signature on delivery mail. Second Hand Dealer and AUSTRAC Legislation We comply with all
second-hand dealer and AUSTRAC legislation as well as any other laws
applicable in Australia. As such we may require the supply of proof of
identity which may be shown to the police, AUSTRAC or other government
agency. We will not accept coin or banknotes that were obtained by illegal or
unlawful means. Our services are not to be used for money laundering. Banknotes and coins accepted for purchase Banknotes
and coins submitted for purchase are accepted when they meet the Authenticity
requirements and are of an undamaged standard. We reserve the right to refuse
to purchase any coin or banknote. Any banknotes and coins we refuse to
purchase will be returned upon request and at the expense of the client. All
returned items will be sent by Australia Post signature on delivery mail. Purchase value The
Obsolete Money Exchange calculates the rate on current banknotes at 10% below
the current exchange rate as shown on XE.com. The
Obsolete Money Exchange calculates the rate on withdrawn, demonetarized or
non-current banknotes at 50% of the exchange rate had the note still been
current. Where an exchange rate cannot be determined The Obsolete Money Exchange will pay a fair value on the banknote. This
value will be based a fair numismatic wholesale value. The Obsolete Money Exchange
calculates a rate on current individual coins with a face value of more than
AU$0.75 at 50% of the current exchange rate as shown on XE.com. All other
coin, including withdrawn coin, demonetarized coin or coins of low face value
with be purchased at a rate based on $7.50 per Kilo. The rates paid
are a basis of obtaining a collector value of the coins and banknotes. We are
not a money exchange, but a dealer in second hand coins and banknotes. Every customer will receive a confirmation email of the purchase price
before payment is made. Shipping The
shipping of banknotes and coins submitted for sale is at the risk of the
customer. We cannot be held responsible for items lost in the mail, which is
why we encourage customers to use a tracked or signed for delivery service.
On our webpage, you can read tips about how to pack and send coins and
banknotes securely by mail. The customer is free to
choose between regular mail and registered mail,
however we will not be responsible for any item until it is in our
possession. Incomplete, missing and incorrectly filled in forms Incomplete, missing and/or incorrectly filled out exchange forms slow
down the exchange process. In case of missing, unreadable or incorrect
information, we will contact the customer by e-mail, if a legible and working
e-mail address is available. When a signature is missing, we will ask to
resend a signed exchange form. Only on receipt hereof, the submitted
banknotes and coins will be exchanged and paid for. We cannot be held
responsible for any consequences of errors filled in by the customer on the
exchange form. Payment Every customer will receive payment for the value of the banknotes and
coins submitted and accepted by us. An offer to return any items not accepted
by us will be made and if accepted items will be returned at your cost by
registered mail. Once your coins and banknotes are sorted you will be emailed with the
amount to be paid. Payment will be made within 20 working days of the receipt
of your items. Customers can choose to be paid into an Australian Bank account in
AUD. Alternatively payment can be made by PayPal in AUD, USD, GBP or and
other currency supported by PayPal. Applicable law and jurisdiction These
Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with
the laws of New South Wales, Australia and any disputes will be decided only
by the Australian courts. We reserve the right to change any of these terms
and conditions at any time. If you do not wish to comply with these terms and
conditions then you are required to cease using this
website. Incorrect bank account numbers, postal and email addresses In order to make a payment, we need correct payment
details, either a bank account, a postal address to send the cheque to, or an
e-mail address for payments by PayPal. Incorrect or missing payment data on
the exchange form may result in payment delays, payments credited to the
wrong account, or bank charges applied by the receiving bank. We are not
responsible for any of these results, in case the submitted payment details
are wrong or incomplete. Any costs resulting from incomplete or missing
payment information will be passed on to the customer. Privacy We
value your privacy. The information you provide will only be used by The
Obsolete Money Exchange and associated entities. It may also be exchanged
with suppliers and service providers to our business for
the purpose of providing the service we are offering. Information may
also be exchanged as required by law. Typographical and software errors When
an exchange rate is listed incorrectly due to typographical or software
errors, we shall have the right to refuse any submitted banknotes or coins
for the incorrectly listed exchange rate. The refused banknotes and coins
will then be sent back to the customer, free of charge. We
have made every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information on our
website. However, we cannot guarantee the completeness of information
provided, nor can we guarantee that your visit to our site will be
