Hong Kong The Hong Kong Dollar was introduced as the currency of Hong Kong in
1863. Hong Kong Dollar banknotes are issued by three private banks and the
Government of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Dollar is also accepted for payments
in neighbouring Macau. The Government of Hong Kong issues only 10 dollar
bank notes. In 2002 a paper version was issued, followed by a polymer plastic
version in 2007. Both versions are in circulation today, along with 10 Hong
Kong dollar coins. Government of Hong Kong banknotes issued before 1997 are
now obsolete. This occurred as a result of the
changeover from British to Chinese rule. We continue to purchase
all old banknotes and coins from Hong Kong as well as the current issues. |
